❮❮ I painted ‘Baltic Coast’ having driven west of Tallinn, Estonia to the home of Arvo Pärt. It’s this forest next door to his house which I used for the painting. The spaceship references the cold war/space race era, and the idea of the wreck came from the end of that era as well as the infamous boat graveyards of Latvia – soviet occupation restricted boats as a way of people escaping the regime. ❯❯
